homemade pizza

Pizza is made, bought or consumed pretty much weekly in my house. Some would say we're addicted. Were definitely not pizza snobs, were down with dominos or any other delivery, we love a good authentic Italian pizza, pizza on an English muffin even. All pizza is good in our books.
I recently took the plung into baking, which is scary because its basically a science. One wrong move and you could explode your kitchen. I did it anyways and I'm so glad. It was so easy and so good. Its hard to go back to the English muffin pizzas after making your own homemade dough. Not really
This recipe I found online, basically fool proof.
  • 1 cup (250 ml) warm water
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) sugar
  • 2 cups (500 ml) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt
Add the yeast sugar and water, mix and let stand for approx 10 minutes or until frothy. Add flour to water, mix until in a uniform ball and begin to kneed. Add extra dough or water accordingly. Place on an oiled bowl and cover, let stand in warm area for about an hour or until risen. When dough has risen, cut into two and stretch out to fit pan, bake at 400F for 10-15 minutes.
This recipe makes two pizzas, if I don't bake both in a night I place the second in a zip lock bag and freeze it. It requires extra flour once defrosted since it will be a little sticky from the condensation.
